Mental health programmes supporting young people with Torsion Dystonia
The project provides socio-psychological rehabilitation groups for people living with torsion dystonia and their family members. It recognises that the condition affects not only patients but also parents, children, siblings and other relatives who may experience chronic stress and significant caregiving responsibilities. The programme helps participants address psychological consequences of the condition, rebuild social skills, strengthen relationships and regain confidence and independence.
The programme is expected to support at least 20 patients together with members of their families. Its longer-term goal is to help patients and relatives return to fuller social, professional and family lives, improve psychological resilience and reduce the isolation associated with chronic illness and intensive caregiving.
