Tolerant Communication is a series of one-day training sessions for social service professionals, veterans and their families, volunteers and community members, designed to improve their ability to communicate with veterans and war affected citizens.  Training sessions include role play, case analysis, self help tools, stress management practices and strategies for de-escalating difficult situations.

The project creates a safe and inclusive environment for residents, social workers, volunteers and veterans to build mutual understanding, enhancing community resilience, reducing burnout, and supporting post-conflict recovery.  Over 120 participants took part in training sessions and expected to regularly apply techniques learned in their daily lives and professions.  Many also expressed readiness to pass on the skills they learned to further expand the project’s reach.
