Women, Children and Families

For many women and children in Ukraine, the impact of war reaches far beyond the moment of violence. Families have been displaced and separated, loved ones lost, and lives profoundly disrupted. Children are growing up amid uncertainty.

Recovery begins with creating spaces where people feel safe, supported and connected: helping children to play, learn and grow; supporting women to regain confidence and independence; and enabling families to rebuild.

Postcode Ukraine supports organisations working alongside women, children and families through programs focused on mental health and wellbeing, inclusion and community. Recovery is not simply about overcoming what has happened, but creating the conditions in which people can begin to imagine what comes next.

Ukrainian Wings’ Happy Mom Club, based in Odesa, provides a safe, nurturing space for mothers and children affected by war, displacement and prolonged stress. Through psychosocial support, health education, therapeutic art masterclasses and speech therapy, families can strengthen their wellbeing, build supportive relationships and recover together.

Ukrainian Wings have received $19,000 in funding from Postcode Ukraine since 2024. A grant of $10,000 enables 150 women to take part in their program. @wingsukrainian

Masha Fund supports women and children affected by trauma, captivity, displacement and loss. Their Unbreakable Mom program provides professional psychological care in a safe environment to women and children. A $5,000 grant enables 40 women to join their 8-week Peer-to-Peer support groups, which deliver community-led psychological support, developing spaces where women can share experiences, overcome isolation and find strength in one another.

Friends of Ukraine: For children who have lost a parent defending Ukraine, the consequences of war continue long after the immediate danger has passed. Choven. Children creates a safe space where they can begin to process grief and trauma, rebuild confidence and experience childhood beyond the shadow of war. With support from Postcode Ukraine, 16 children aged 10–14 took part in a ten-day psychological rehabilitation and recovery camp in the Carpathian Mountains. Each day combined creative workshops, group activities, excursions, and time in nature with professional psychological support.
